Do you want black hair care tips to help you nourish and protect your crowning glory?
Black hair has to be treated in a special way for it to stay healthy and strong. With that in mind here are three of the hair care tools you shouldn't be without and the reasons why you really need them.
1. Bonnet Dryer
A bonnet or hooded dryer it number one on the list of must have hair care tools.
It protects your hair from harsh direct heat damage (from things like blow dryers) by drying your hair with gentle indirect heat. The best part is that this actually conditions your hair!
It locks hairstyles into place after roller setting, rod setting and any other twist set style.
Deep conditioners get a boost from using a plastic cap and bonnet dryer. The heat really allows the conditioner to penetrate your hair giving you better results from all your protein and moisture treatments.
As you can see, this hair appliance does more than just dry your hair.
2. Bone Comb
Look at a regular plastic hair comb and you'll see a ridge along the middle.
Take a magnifying glass and look at the ridge and you'll see jagged saw like teeth running along the edge of it.
Every time you use a plastic comb your hair it's shredding it little by little, encouraging split ends and breakage.
Bone combs, not to be confused with bone colored combs are combs that are handmade.
They're the best type of comb for your hair (this is a little known black hair care tip).
They're completely smooth and don't have the hair damaging ridge like plastic combs do.
Use a bone comb for just a few months and you'll see a major difference.
3. Silk or Satin Scarf/Pillowcase
Cotton might be the fabric of our lives but it certainly isn't the best for our hair! It's a very moisture absorbing fabric and this is why sleeping with your hair pressed against it is a big no-no.
Cotton pillowcases suck most of the moisture out of your hair while you sleep.
When your hair dries out it leads to what we know as "bed head".
Friction with the fabric can cause your hair to break off over time.
The way around this is to either use a silk or satin scarf or pillow case.
The smoothness of the silk or satin makes your hair glide over the fabric rather than get hitched in the fibers and break off.
These fabrics are not moisture robbing and leave your hair feeling as hydrated when you wake up as when you went to bed.
Because your hair stays moist your hairstyle is more likely to stay intact as well!
Try these black hair care tips and tools and your hair will thank you by being healthier, stronger and longer in no time.
