So you think the biggest problem when it comes to hair care is having to tend to an oily scalp? Well, we do agree that oily hair is one of the leading sources of various skin disorders and hair fall, but then dry hair is not a piece of cake either. Your hair needs to have a certain amount of moisture content and nourishing oil in order to make it bounce with life and look healthy. Dry hair is the main cause of hair fall and split ends and can make your hair look dull and lifeless. So, what do you do about it?
We are not sure about all the scores of products claiming to solve all your hair hassles, neither are we recommending visits to the up-market spas and health care centers that promise you a complete and permanent solution to all your hair problems. They all work for some and do not work for some and cannot be generalized. But, here, are certain tried and tested remedies for dry hair that have worked out for almost 90% of people with dry hair and has transformed all their hair growth into a thick, luscious and healthy hair crop on their scalp with minimal damages and almost negligible dandruff. Read on.
Beer
Beer is one of the age-old and the most prolific solutions to dry and damaged hair problems. They contain a particular protein that helps the cells of the scalp to give out healthy strands of hair. What you need to do is not drink it, but apply it to your hair. You must make sure that all strands of your hair are soaked in beer and then, after you keep it on for about a minute or so, rinse it well with cool water. Be sure you shower well later to remove the odor from your hair.
Apple-cider vinegar
This is a proven remedy for dandruff build up on the hair scalp. You can use this once a week or once in a fortnight depending upon the way your hair responds to the product. Apply the extract in small amounts on the scalp and then rinse with a conditioner. This product is mildly acidic in nature, and hence, helps to get rid of the dead cell flakes found on the hair scalp. This makes the hair very healthy and fresh and helps to reduce itching to a great extent.
Baking soda
Though baking soda is touted to be a great remedy for dry hair, all it does is purifies your scalp and makes your hair retain its moisture content. Nevertheless, you can use it in tandem with beer or lemon juice for soft and beautiful hair. You need to mix a quarter cup of water with a pinch of baking soda and use a little on all places of your scalp. Leave it on for about a minute or so and then shower using your regular shampoo.
Egg white
Egg whites, like beer, can make your hair soft, clean and healthy with strong roots and beautiful to look at, all by its own. It has a total of twelve vitamins and minerals that are most important for proper hair growth. They are particularly rich in Vitamin A and D extracts that make for suitable conditioners. All you need to do is take egg white and smoother it all over your hair and scalp and after leaving it on for about ten minutes, wash all over. Take extra care while you shower and make sure you get rid of the odor, lest you come out of the bathroom smelling like omelets.
Coconut oil with Avocado
Coconut oil is another important ingredient that nourishes your hair into a black and shiny crop that dazzles under the sun. These oils when mixed with avocado are good at shielding your hair from the harmful UV rays. Apply warm coconut oil with mashed avocado onto your hair, massage for a while and then leave it on overnight. You can have a normal shower the next morning with your shampoo.
Precautions:
Make sure you have a head shower at least once and not more than thrice a week. It is known that over-washing of hair gets rid of the important oils that are secreted by the scalp and makes your hair look dry and lifeless in the bargain.
A healthy diet is another must. Externally, though you apply a lot of oils and creams and products, you must look to nourish your hair internally through a good diet that is replete with fruits, green vegetables and gallons of water.
Wear a parasol, a hat or a scarf over your head when you step out in the sun as sunshine can eat away all the moisture from your hair. In addition to that, the dust and the pollution can be harmful when they settle over your hair. Carry an umbrella if needed.
Your hair needs care and hence pay a lot of attention to it. Go for regular hair cuts and massage your hair at least once a week with oils and herbs.
And as a last word, never forget the Grandma's advice of treating your hair to at least 50-60 strokes every night using a good brush. It helps circulation of blood in your scalp and you'll get healthier follicles if you do so.
