If you are suffering from dry or damaged hair, then you're not alone. Most of us experience symptoms like these due to many different factors. First of all, there is what I like to call "environmental" factors to consider. The sun's potent UV rays, for example, cause all sorts of problems with hair. Things like heavy wind and sea salt can also cause split ends and damage. Along with these earth born problems, we also damage our hair through the use of chemicals. Things like hair dyes and leave-in conditioners sometimes contain toxic chemicals that break down the proteins responsible for keeping our hair strong and beautiful. One thing that we can do to keep our hair moist and manageable is to properly shampoo it.
Before we discuss actual shampooing technique, consider the type of shampoo that you're using. It's always a good idea to read the label of any hair product you be - be it a shampoo, a conditioner, or a styling product. Consider the ingredients carefully. Be on the look out for nasty named chemicals. Also look to see if there are any natural ingredients in the product like goats mile, or vanilla.
Now, it's important that you shampoo your head correctly once you've found an appropriate product. Dryness and damage is often caused by people being too rough on their heads. You don't have to dig too deep! Let the shampoo do the work. If your hair still feels greasy after one wash, do it again! It's better to give your head two gentle washes then it is to give it one angry one.
