A bad hair day usually means one thing-ugly and unsightly hair. But what most people do not know is that a wide variety of reasons can be the cause of one's bad hair day. There are just so many hair problems that can make your tresses look less than perfect.

In order for you to cope effectively to a bad hair day, here are some of the common hair problems that you should know about and what you can do about them:

1. Lack of body

Hair that looks limp and lifeless-this is a common problem that many of us experience at least once in our lives. Lack of body can lead to more problems such as less elasticity, less strength and less flexibility.

To resolve this, try staying away from hair sprays and other hair products that can weigh your hair down and make it look flat. Instead, wash your hair with a volumizing shampoo and conditioner that will give body and volume to it. You can also opt for a hair product that has a pH level of 4.5 to 5.5 because this contains proteins that can give luster and life to your flat hair.

Styling your hair with a blow dryer can also do wonders for your hair that has no body. Turn your head upside down, brush your hair outwards while pointing your blow dryer on your hair. Return to normal position and start styling your volumized hair.

2. Dandruff

This hair problem is caused by a chemical reaction in the body that increases normal shedding of dead cells. The chemical reaction can be triggered by dietary deficiency, stress, wrong use of hair produces, and hormonal change.

To minimize your dandruff problem, stay away from fatty foods, animal fats, fried dishes, nuts, avocado, dairy products and those that have refined sugars in it. Use a gentle shampoo that has tear tree oil or rosemary oil. Massage your scalp gently to encourage blood nourishment.

3. Split ends

Regular trimming is the best way to get rid of split ends. Aside from that, it is necessary to use a leave-in conditioner frequently and deep conditioner at least once a week to keep your hair healthy and moisturized.

Try to avoid using heat-generating appliances to avoid hair breakage. But if you cannot live without having to use your blow dryer or flat iron, opt for those that are of high quality such as FHI flat irons to minimize damage to the hair.

FHI flat irons have adjustable heat settings that allow you to set the temperature to the one that is safe for your fragile hair. It is advisable that you only heat your hair using a temperature of below 360 degrees Fahrenheit.

4. Brittle hair

Brittle hair can be improved by avoiding the use of shampoos that contain alkaline or alcohol. It is also best that you protect your tresses from excessive heat especially exposure under strong sunlight because this can dry your hair and make it even more brittle.

When swimming, protect your hair from chlorine from swimming pools by wearing a swimming cap. Do not forget to rinse before and after going into a pool to minimize absorption of chlorine in your hair.

Coping with a bad hair day does not simply mean donning on a hat or wearing a wig to hide your ugly hair. The better way to resolve this is to investigate the real cause and to attend to it immediately.
