When we think of balding or thinning hair, we usually think of men, but it isn't unusual for women to experience thinning hair as they age, especially when they're having some of the hormone losses that are associated with menopause. If you are experiencing thinning hair-which is also known as female pattern baldness-or hair loss, keep in mind that some of the following reasons can contribute to your hair loss.

Some prescription drugs such as blood thinners and medications for arthritis, depression, and high blood pressure can cause hair shedding or thinning. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist and ask them if your prescription medication may be causing your hair thinning.

The damaging effects of hair care treatments or styling, as well as twisting or pulling your hair, can cause hair loss or thinning. If you suspect this is the reason that your hair is thinning, you should change the way you style your hair, or invest in a good conditioning treatment.

Thyroid disease can cause hair loss. If you suspect this, speak with your doctor about a thyroid test, because the appropriate treatment for thyroid disease often results in hair re-growth.

Your diet may have some losses or insufficiency. If you have an iron deficiency, it can cause hair loss, but don't take iron unless your doctor recommends that you take a supplement. Iron supplements can build up in your system, and too much can cause more problems than too little. To help prevent further hair loss, make sure you're getting enough omega-3 fatty acids. Eat fatty fish: salmon, sardines, herring or mackerel two or three times a week. Incorporate walnuts into your diet, and also supplement with black currant oil or evening primrose oil. Take 500 mg of one or the other twice a day for six to eight weeks and this can help thinning hair to grow back in.

Other things you can do to help with your thinning hair:

Change your hair style. If your current style exposes too much of your thinning hair or bald spot, try changing your part, or wearing bangs or a fringe.

Try a small hairpiece. There are some that are both inexpensive and natural looking. They're definitely not like they were years ago, when you could absolutely tell a hairpiece was fake. Your friends might be wearing one now, and you'd never know. Experiment with colors and styles, and see which one looks best on you.

Try a fill-in powder for thinning hair. You can use this while you're trying dietary changes or medication changes (because your thinning hair may take six to eight weeks to grow back in) or if you've discovered that your thinning hair can't be helped. It is formulated especially to stay on the scalp, and can conceal fine and thinning hair. The powder instantly gives the illusion of thicker, fuller hair. The powder eliminates shiny spots from your exposed scalp to give the illusion of thick full hair. It can also cover root growth if you need a visit to the colorist.

If you're a woman and you have thinning hair, don't write it off as 'one of those things'. If you make some dietary or medication changes, your hair may very well grow back. If your hair won't re-grow, there are other solutions as well. Change your hairstyle, get a small hairpiece, or try a good fill-in powder. Just as we use powder on our eyebrows, fill in powders can look totally natural and make your hair look the best it has in years.

There are various causes of hair loss. However, before going into that, you must know about the normal cycle of hair growth and hair fall. Normally, hair grows up to a centimeter every month during every 2 to 6 years.

About 10% of the hair on the scalp is growing at any given time. This is not the case after a couple of months when the resting hair falls out with new hair growing in its place.

In this cycle, it is healthy to shed hair every day although in some people, the hair loss may be excessive which is concerning. This kind of hair fall can occur in kids, men and women alike.

Why do Some People Experience Excessive Hair Fall?

There are a lot of factors that contribute to hair fall. In fact, if you have had a surgery or illness, hair fall is common within 3 to 4 months after that. You may suddenly lose hair and this is related to the stress on account of the illness. What's more? It is also temporary.

Then there may be hormonal changes which are one of the causes of losing your hair. An over active or under active thyroid gland may make your hair fall out. This can generally be tackled by treating thyroid. The hormones androgens and estrogens, found in males and females respectively, are put out of balance, thus leading to hair loss.

This is prevented by stopping hair loss. A lot of women notice loss of hair or a receding hair line 3 months after pregnancy, which is a condition that is related to hormones. When a woman conceives, there are high levels of hormones noticed in the body which leads to losing your hair.

Once the stage of pre pregnancy is achieved, the hair starts falling, with the normal resumption of the growth and fall cycle.

Sometimes medicines are also the causes of hair loss, which improves once the intake of the medicine is stopped. Some of these medicines include the following:

Anti coagulants that thin the density of blood
Gout medicines
Medicines for chemotherapy for treating cancer
Too much of Vitamin A
Anti depressants
Birth control pills

Infections on the skin are also responsible for hair loss and some of these are the fungal infections that are common in children. Antifungal medications can also help in curing this problem. One of the major causes of hair loss happens to be diabetes or lupus or an underlying disease.

Importance of Hair Care

Improper care of your hair is one of the important and significant causes of hair loss. Using tight hair rollers, wearing pigtails or corn rows can make your hair fall or result in a kind of traction that is known as alopecia or balding in common terms.

If the pulling is stopped before scarring develops, the hair grows back normally, although at times scarring can result in permanent hair loss. This can be treated with hot oil or chemical perms.

You have probably asked yourself time and time again, what is the best hair loss product available? That question was asked on a Google answers site, and the experts answer? They stated that there is no answer to that question.

They are correct in that there is no general answer to that question, but there is an answer to the alternative question, "What is the best hair loss product for me?" It's still not an easy question to answer though, and you'll probably need to find the answer via good old-fashioned trial and error methods.

Home Remedies

There are many kinds of home remedies for hair loss. I'm pretty sure some of them can be disregarded - like rubbing cow manure on your head - but some of them probably do help some people. Here are a few of the more promising home remedies:

Rinse your hair with apple cider vinegar and sage tea.
A variety of oils have been used - almond oil, castor oil, olive oil, and amla oil. Usually the oil is warmed, which will at least feel good and make your hair shiny.
Applying coconut milk or aloe vera gel to your scalp.
Applying a masque of honey and egg yolk to your hair and scalp.
All of these concoctions should be washed out (except the apple cider and sage tea rinse) after use.

happinesslifetime.com Hair Care Products

The best happinesslifetime.com hair care product for you could be as simple as a good shampoo or conditioner. Some people swear by Nizoral shampoo, and say it puts an end to hair loss. Some people love Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner, because it makes their hair look and feel fuller and thicker. Your hairdresser may have some suggestions about happinesslifetime.com hair care products that help you with your problem.

Herbal Remedies

Some people believe that the best hair loss product is an herbal remedy. There are a number of herbal lotions and potions as well as nutritional supplements specially formulated to treat hair loss. An herbalist may be able to recommend the best products for your particular cause. Here are a few herbal remedies that seem to help:

Ginko biloba
Green tea
A Chinese herb called 'he shou wu'
Pygeum
Aloe vera
Saw palmetto
Stinging nettle

Some of these are taken in pill form and some are made into preparations that you rub onto your scalp. Some (like, for instance, stinging nettles) can cause a reaction, so use all herbal preparations with care.

Minoxidil (Rogain?)

A lot of people consider that this is the best hair loss product. It's available without a prescription at any pharmacy, and it works for a lot of people. Minoxidil helps both men and women to grow more hair. Remember, though, that as soon as you quit taking Minoxidil, your hair will start to fall out again.

Prescription Medications

A prescription medication, such as Propecia, could be the ideal product for you. You need to see the doctor to get it, but that's a good thing, because she will conduct a check-up to see if there is some underlying cause as to why you are losing your hair that can be taken care of permanently.

Wigs, Rugs and Weaves

It could turn to be that the best hair loss product for you is a cover up of some kind. This is especially true when the loss of hair is temporary, such as when your hair falls out while undergoing chemotherapy.

There are a lot of options available to you to treat hair loss, but only you can decide which is the best product for you. Test a few things, and when you find something that works for you, stick with it. It may not work for everybody, but the important thing here is that you will have found the best hair loss product for you.

American scientists have suggested an odd theory - they have tried to persuade the world that dirty hair is good for one's health. In fact, it turns out that this paradoxical idea might lie at the root of creating beautiful and healthy hair.

New scientific research from Missouri University has discovered that dirty hair has a protective function: secretions produced by the head's oil glands cover hair that incepts ozone intensively. Ozone is a toxic gas which appears as an active compound of oxygen, and in larger quantities, can seriously harm a human being's health. As a result of one experiment, it has emerged that dirty hair absorbs seven times more harmful ozone than clean hair does. But scientists still have not explained how it affects the state of hair. Besides that, in the scientific community there is a common perception that sebaceous matter covering unwashed hair contributes to faster hair growth. It protects hair against environmental influences. As a result, the hair experiences fewer splits and less damage and actually grows faster.

Typical mistake

At the same time, there is no denying it - unwashed hair is one of women's biggest mistakes. "When I am walking along the street I notice often that women have unwashed hair. This is perhaps the biggest style error. - says famous American designer Isaac Mizrahi. - You know people have excuses for bad shoes - because you know some people have back problems, it is the street and they're walking and walking and walking - but I do think that people have no excuse for bad hair. Because you know what? There's a hat, if your hair is really that bad that day. But I always think that women should be encouraged to spend a lot of money on their hair" - the designer says. But what about those people who worry about the possibility of ozone poisoning, but honestly believe that "clean hair - it is already a head-dress"? The results of the American study do not completely mean that the hair should now be rarely washed. There is just no point in washing it too often, so as not to destroy the work of the head's oil glands, which are in charge of the shine of healthy hair and for protecting the hair's owner from the surrounding concentration of harmful ozone. Besides that, several simple rules should be observed during hair treatment in order to improve its conditions.

Correct washing

For those who can't make themselves wash their hair once per 3-5 days, specialists advise the use of special soft products, which don't clean hair too deeply. Soft shampoo is not able to wash off week-old "dirt" from hair or wash away peeling head skin; therefore, the dirty hair and dandruff are "guaranteed" to you. Application of shampoo on the hair should occur twice. The first time, the shampoo will only wash off the fat. The second time, it must be used to enact the therapeutic additives and vitamins contained within it. During application, you should accurately, but energetically, massage the head skin to activate blood circulation.

Hair nourishment

If the shampoo "uncovers" the hair "scales" and moves mud away from the hair, then conditioner, on the contrary, closes the scales and envelops hair. Specifically, because of shampoo and conditioner act oppositely, it is not worth using two-in-one products. They do only as a fast wash-n-go option. Conditioning rinse, furthermore, neutralizes static electricity, makes hair manageable, protects it from the harmful environmental effects, facilitates combing and gives the hair shine and elasticity. Conditioning rinse must be thoroughly washed out the last time in cool water. Specialists consider that cold water also makes hair smooth and glossy. Water for hair-washing should not be hot but pleasantly warm, about 35 degrees Celsius, or even slightly cooler. It is not advisable. to wash hair in hot water, at least because this leads to additional exudation of the oil glands. Warm or slightly cool water also washes hair well if the shampoo or soap fit the type of hair. However, very cold water is also harmful for the hair. It is very healthful to "gladden" hair by using special head beauty masks 2-3 times per month. However, healthy hair not only requires washing but also external nourishment in the form of masks and balsams. The basic substance the hair consists of is protein substance Keratin, rich in sulfur (5%) and nitrogen (20%). Hair has necessary nourishment from within, i.e. the protein food, which delivers building materials to the hair and also regular head massages, which stimulates blood circulation of the scalp and makes it possible to more rapidly and more effectively bring the necessary nourishment to the hair. For strengthening the hair and preventing hair loss, one should take phytin, vitamins A, B1, B6, B12, pantothenic acid, endocrine preparations and so on. Also very significant in regards to the healthy look of your hair is regular combing. Ideally, you should comb your hair twice per day, since the comb teeth irritate nerve endings of the head skin, which revives blood circulation and contributes to hair growth. It is necessary to have a comb with dull teeth so that they do not scratch the skin. Constant combing massages the hair well and, to a certain extent, cleans it, moving dust away from it. However, only dry hair should be combed. Moist hairs, heavy from the water, are easily pulled out during combing.

Do you have fine or thin hair? Are you curious about products that promise to thicken your fine strands? Have you ever wondered if thickening hair products really work? Or, perhaps you've wondered what ingredients are in these types of products that actually provide the thickness that you're seeking.

We've all seen the commercials and the newspaper ads marketing hair thickening shampoos and conditioners. While there are some products that do not deliver on their promises there are others that do. Over the years happinesslifetime.com hair care products have become innovative and some can actually increase the body, volume, and thickness of thin hair. There are also several in the market today which can increase the health of your hair while adding the fullness that women like me that do not have thick hair long for.

What's In These Hair Thickening Products that Provides Hair Thickness?

The key is in the formulation of these special type of hair products to bring fullness to thinning tresses Most thickening formulas are designed to up the moisture of the cuticle and follicles. When your cuticles and hair follicles are properly moisturized this causes swelling in the hair shaft. This gives the appearance of thicker and fuller strands as well as adding body and volume. Ingredients such as botanicals, panthenol (Vitamin B5), proteins, keratins, silk amino acids, collagen, emollients, and vitamins aid in making the hair thick. Additionally, these ingredients contribute to the health, hydration, and sheen of your hair.

There is a variety of thicker hair products formulated for creating volume and body. Rather you're shopping online, at a mall, or at a store chain you're sure to find a plethora of hair thickening shampoos, conditioners, leave-in conditioners, hair thickening gel and sprays to improve the health of your thin hair. However, my suggestion would be to find products that are made with the best and most natural and purest ingredients possible. Look for products that contain botanicals, essential oils, and antioxidants, as they usually do not contain harsh chemicals and toxins that can be harmful to your hair. If feasible, try using a complete line of products. If you purchase the shampoo, also try out the conditioner, serum, and leave in conditioner. This will increase the effectiveness and provide phenomenal results.

Popular Hair Thickening Brands

Nioxin Products has a thinning hair system designed for adding thickness and strength to your hair. This fine hair solution focuses on treating the scalp (the foundation for hair growth) with vitamins, botanicals, and nutrients. This brand can be purchased in salons or online.

Nexxus Diametress Hair Thickening line promotes building thickness and volume. Utilizing a time released nutrients technology increases the diameter of the hair shaft producing fullness.

I get many questions regarding hair growth: Why am I shedding so much hair in the shower? Does my hair grow faster in the summer when I am out in the sun every day? These are common worries that are totally irrelevant to hair loss or the growth process of your hair. Hair growth is divided into three cycles - the Anagen, Catagen and Telogen phases. Hair will continually cycle through these three phases throughout a person's life. The cycle does not depend on the season or climate conditions, but does vary when a person has certain medical conditions, is taking medication or has another condition such as pregnancy.

Anagen is the growth phase of the hair. The hair in this stage grows rapidly at about 0.4 mm per day, 1 cm every 28 days. Scalp hair stays in this active phase of growth for two to six years.

Catagen is the transitional phase. About 3% of all hairs are in this phase at one time. The Catagen phase begins when growth finally stops, the hair is then released from the follicle, and is no longer attached at the root at the end of this stage. The detached hair in the follicle is called a "Club Hair".

Telogen is the resting phase and accounts for 6% to 8% of all hairs. This phase is essentially the shedding of the club hairs, and it lasts for different lengths of time on different parts of the body. On the head, this phase is about 100 days long. About 75 Telogen hairs are shed in a normal person each day.

Some people have trouble growing their hair long, and this phenomenon is genetic. Certain individuals have hair that spends more time in the Telogen phase and less time in the Anagen phase. To this extreme, arm and eyelash hair only grow to a very short length because their locations are programmed to provide a very short Anagen phase. These genetically determined differences between people are inalterable.

In the Anagen phase, quite interestingly, the same follicle planted on different parts of the body will grow to different lengths, showing that the growth cycle differs depending on where on the body the hair is growing. I have used chest hairs in various repair cases, transplanting these one-inch hairs onto the head. Amazingly, these hairs can grow up to three or four inches when planted on the head.

Developing a Mature Hairline

As males grow and mature from childhood through to adulthood, they experience a normal change in the hairline that is not a symptom of Male Pattern Baldness. At least once a week, I see a male in his early 20s who is convinced that he is losing all his hair. His hairline has receded about half an inch in the previous five years, and is slightly thinner than it was. As well, temporal angles have receded slightly. This change is part of the normal maturation process - it happens in every testosterone-producing male, and is not a sign that further balding will take place.

In the 80s, accessories were invaluable. Almost every style involved some sort of hair accessory or embellishment to really set it off. Today, it is not a part of everyday style and care should be taken as to when and how to use the hair accessory so that you will not look dated.

With that said, there are some occasions that scream for hair accessories: Work, social occasions and formal events may all have you searching for the perfect hair accessory to set off your look. While different occasions will call for different types of accessories, a good rule of thumb to follow is to choose the more sedate one over one that could not go unnoticed in a crowd of a few hundred or a few thousand.

While choosing the right one can be tricky, there are a few pointers that you can follow to help you pick the perfect hair accessories to complete your look. Here are just a few:

* Work. In many work situations, you will likely have to wear your hair up. No matter if your type of employment requires it or you simply like to change your look now and then, wearing your hair up calls for the right hair accessory to do the job. The number one rule to finding the right hair accessory for work is to avoid banana clips at all costs. I mean, who still makes these things? Apparently they're making money at it or they wouldn't still be producing these torture devices of the 80s. Don't further their cause: stop buying this hair accessory. The second rule is to choose hair accessories that closely match your hair color or that blend nicely with it. Matching a hair accessory to your clothes is only cute when you are 5-years-old. What you choose will depend largely on your length of hair and how you like to wear your hair up. For French twists, choose hair accessories that resemble over-sized hair clips. Simply twist and clip.

* Social and formal occasions. In social and formal occasions you have a greater opportunity to express your artsy side through hair accessories. Again choose sedate pieces over garish hair accessories. Classy pieces can be perfect for social occasions, whereas a little sprig of flowers or garnishment may be needed for formal occasions. Formal occasions are the only time that is okay to match your hair accessory to your clothing. But still, do not go overboard. What attracts the eye should be the beauty of your hair, not too-busy hair accessories. If in doubt about what hair accessory or how much of it to include, opt for the simple solution: use as little as possible.

The bottom line with hair accessories is that too much of a good thing can confuse the eye and make your do look garish. Simple hair accessories, on the other hand, can make a bold beauty statement that makes your hair the talk of the office or party.

Advice to Keep a Healthy Hair

One of the best tips on advice to keep a healthy hair is to moisturize. It is important to moisturize dry, dull hair, in order to add shine and keep the hair healthy. You will be able to achieve this in many different ways, but it is still down to using the right conditioner is going to be the best idea. There are two types of conditioners : the basics conditioners which are put into the hair and then rinsed out afterwards, but there are also leave in conditioners which can just be sprayed or rubbed into the hair and then left in and not rinsed out.

Another important piece of advice to keep a healthy hair is to eat a good diet. Many people do not know just how important an affect what they eat has on their hair. By eating lots of fresh fruits and vegetables, whole grain breads and cereals, and drinking enough water, at least six to eight glasses a day, there will be a great improvement in the hair.

In order to avoid split ends, frequent trims are very important, and this is another important advice to keep a healthy hair tip. It is common advice where every six to eight weeks at least a half inch should be taken off the ends of the hair, as this hair will generally be dead anyway and is simply pulling down the rest of the hair making it look lifeless.

Black hair care tips are not just limited to regular everyday hair maintenance. After sports, the hair care routine is different than the normal everyday hair care, thus special attention must be given to your hairs immediately after you have ended your exercise routine for the day. Here are some tips to care for your black hair after exercise.

After a work out, if you are in a rush and do not have the time to shampoo your hair, you can swab your hair using an antiseptic and a gentle moisturizing spray. The sweat residue trapped in your hair is very damaging to your hair and can cause hair damage. Be sure to rinse your hair out with plain water if that is possible.

When you have more time later on, preferably the same day, before you go to sleep, you can use a mild shampoo to give your black hair the proper cleansing treatment that it needs. Be sure to apply a leave-in conditioner after that to moisturize your hair.

For those of you who go for regular exercise trainings, the best that you can provide for your hair care is by investing in hair products that are specifically designed for your active lifestyle. A no-rinse shampoo is most suitable for active outdoor people as the product requires absolutely no rinsing. The non-irritating shampoo contains no alcohol and is biodegradable.

Another product that is suitable for after exercise black hair care is dry shampoo. This product absorbs excess oil and other buildup while increasing volume at the hair roots and is super-nourishing for your scalp. Another way to repel moisture from your hair after exercise is by using anti-humectants. It helps to prevent frizzy looking hair and is excellent for after exercise use.

So, take a look at your lifestyle today and see if you are giving your black hair the proper care that it needs especially if you are active outdoors. These simple black hair care tips may help you preserve the health and beauty of your hairs.

Hair loss and hair thinning is a condition that has always been linked with men but in reality it can affect anyone at any age. It is important to realize that losing your hair does not in many cases mean that you have male or female pattern baldness.

There are several causes for hair loss including many that do not have anything to do with the genes that were passed down to you by your family. For instance nutrition or more accurately poor nutrition can and does cause hair loss It is vital for hair growth and health that we consume adequate amounts of protein and iron. The new compulsion with staying slim and trim by crash dieting, fad diets or eating disorders undoubtedly leads to hair thinning or hair loss What we eat definitely affects the health of all parts of our bodies. Many individuals are mislead by the idea that your hair is dead, but the hair follicles from which your hair grows are very much alive and need nourishment.

Certain medications may also cause hair thinning or hair loss The side effects for medications are not experienced equally by all individuals, therefore it is important to discuss this with your physician if you suddenly experience hair loss This is especially important if you are taking medications to treat depression, high blood pressure, gout, arthritis or for various heart problems. In many instances your doctor will be able to give you an alternative medication that will not have the same side effects.

Hormone changes or imbalances can cause hair thinning or hair loss but this is generally temporary. For instance hormone levels are effected with pregnancy, the birth, thyroid conditions, stopping birth control pills, and menopause. Once hormones get back to normal levels normal hair growth will begin, however it should be noted that the hair it self may be slightly different in texture or appearance.

Mechanical damage of the hair follicles can lead to hair loss or hair thinning. If injury of the hair follicles is severe this can lead to scarring causing substandard growth or permanent loss of growth. Mechanical damage can be caused by diseases, infections of the scalp, or by over processing. It is important to keep your scalp healthy and to be gentle with your hair in general. It is believed that even excess wearing of ponytails and braids can cause damage to the hair follicles by the constant pull. Perms, hair dyes, curling irons and blow dryers are also believed to cause damage if they are over used. If you are causing damage to the dead hair shaft you can be fairly certain you are damaging the living hair follicle.

Another type of hair loss known as Teleogen effluvium is caused by a emotional or physical shock to the system. This can include; the sudden death of a loved one, a high fever, sudden or extreme weight loss, metabolic disturbances, or surgery. Again, not everyone's body will react in the same way, however in some cases the shock causes the hair roots to prematurely enter into a resting state. Once in the resting state the hair is shed.

There are many explanations or causes for hair loss therefore it is important that you seek the help of a physician before you assume you are simply going bald because of heredity. Hair loss and hair thinning may be an indication of an illness or the on set of an illness, for instance diabetes or lupus. Because the causes of hair thinning or hair loss are so varied a definite diagnosis needs to be acquired before you decide to seek out treatments on your own.

Many people tend to think that caring for African American hair is easy. When the hair is styled it adopts the style splendidly and appears to have excellent hold to sport the look. The truth is that caring for African American hair is extremely difficult, yet the styles are so exotic that they always seem to attract a great deal of attention.

Internationally, a woman's beauty and femininity is directly associated with her hair. Through many advertisements we can see the standards that the world expects of women's hair care, hair styles and length of hair. People are mostly fascinated with African American Hair Styles because of the versatility of the hair itself. Because of its ability to change from very curly, to dead straight or mildly curly, many find this amazing. What people don't know is that in several African cultures, hair denotes much more.

It can distinguish a married from a single woman, or one who has just given birth from one who is in mourning. However as amazing as it appears when it's dressed up with long braided attachments, or in sleek straight glamor, African American Hair can be very fragile at times. As with all hair types proper care is recommended at all times. This basically means essential vitamins and minerals that promote growth, oiling of scalps - or what is commonly referred to as Hot Oil treatments and refraining from inflicting damage by heat. Many African American Hair Styles revolve around way too much heat. Heat is applied by hairdressers in the form of relaxers, which are chemicals that actually burn the hair or by straightening iron devices. Because African American Hair tends to be porous, it is more vulnerable to damage than Caucasian or Asian hair.

Managing the attractive African American Hair Styles that the world seems so fascinated about may not be as simple as it looks. In fact it is hard work. Many African Americans are steeped in their roots and are not in accordance with the evolution that African American Hair Styles have gone through. They simply prefer to keep their hair as it was willed to be - as natural as possible.

There are several reasons why these new and trendy hair styles are all the rage. The simple truth is that when done professionally, braids look fabulous and are convenient for the wearer. In addition to this using braids can actually stimulate growth to cover those thinning, troubled spots. Perhaps the fascination with these hair styles lies in their diversity: the natural and extension braided styles are endless--ranging from close-cropped twists to individual braids, plaits, cornrows, locks, coils, micro-braids, waves and knots...and so many more.

Long before most of the hair equipment we know of today have been invented, there were already hair dryers that helped stylists whip up exciting hair styling masterpieces. Nowadays, it is typical for some people to have their own hairdryers to help them style their own hair on a daily basis.

Knowing how to use a hair dryer is important but learning how to take care of it is essential too. Without the proper knowledge on how to maintain and care for this hair styling tool, you cannot expect that your hair dryer will last a long time with you, even if you have purchased a very durable brand like t3 hair dryers for instance.

Here are some excellent tips on how to extend the life of your blow dryer:

1. Clean your hair dryer regularly. Whenever you use your hair dryer, you should not forget to clean it afterwards. Begin your cleaning by unplugging the tool and allowing it to cool down.

For the surface of the hair dryer, you can use a clean rug to wipe it. As for the air vent, you can make use of a toothbrush or a cotton bud and a small amount of alcohol to loosen up and remove dirt build up.

Rinse with water to run off remaining dust and dirt. If there are attachments to the dryer, remove them and clean them too. Allow everything to dry before reassembling.

2. Check for accumulation of lint, hair and debris. Doing this is not only for the maintenance of your dryer, but more importantly for your safety. Remember, when too much debris builds up on your blow dryer, this tool can become a potential fire hazard.

Checking for debris build up should be done at least once a month or more often if you use your dryer frequently. The more often you use your dryer, the faster lint, hair and debris will accumulate, and the more often you should do your routine checking.

Remove debris with the use of a pair of tweezers, a cotton bud or your fingertips. Do not forget to unplug and turn off the tool before doing so to avoid injury.

You can remove the debris from your blow dryer using your fingertips or a small tool like tweezers. Make sure the blow dryer is off when you are cleaning it.

3. Inspect the parts of the blow dryer. If there is anything broken or cracked, be sure to have this replaced or repaired by a professional immediately. Using a broken or defective blow dryer can lead to an injury. Again, be sure to unplug and turn off the devise before inspection.

4. Know what to do in case of operation failure. If the hair dryer fails to work after you have plugged it in, check the power cord first by removing the screws to open the dryer housing. Use a continuity tester to check if the power is defective or not. If it is, replace it with a new cord.

When you buy high quality hair dryers like t3 hair dryers, you expect them to last long. However, you need to care for your dryers the proper way to maintain their excellent working condition.

Blow dry your hair straight before straightening and make sure that it's completely dry to avoid burning hair. Straightening wet hair can crack the cuticles and dry it out, causing damage. Use a warm setting on the hair dryer, but not the hottest, to minimize damage.

It's important to use heat protection products before any kind of heat styling, whether that be curling, straightening or blow drying. Heat protection creams, serums and sprays add extra moisture to your hair as well as locking in the hair's natural moisture. Heat protection products can be easily bought online.

Healthy hair is moisturized hair and as soon it starts becoming dry, it will begin to look brittle an unhealthy. As hair dries out, split ends start to form and at this point, there is no cure other than to get your hair cut at a professional hairdressers. Having your hair cut regularly at a professional hair stylist will ensure that any split ends are cut away and promotes growth of the hair.

Run a brush or comb through your hair before straightening to get rid of any kinks or tangled hair.

It's important to use a good quality pair of straighteners when straightening your hair. Otherwise the straighteners may not get hot enough and stay at a constant temperature for long enough to achieve a good result. You can get a pair of cheapghdstraighteners.co.uk cheap GHD straighteners online from one of the GHD price comparison sites.

Always make sure your flat iron plates are clean, use a soft damp cloth on a cool iron to wipe away any residue. You don't want to be using dirty straighteners on your clean, shiny hair!

Turn on your GHD straighteners and let them heat up. When they're at maximum temperature, a beep will sound and the LED will begin to flash. It takes around 20 seconds for GHD straighteners to reach maximum temperature, depending on the temperature of the room you're in. Then, to start with, take a portion of hair and run your brush or comb through that section to make sure that all the hair is untangled. Clamp your hair with the straighteners near to the root then run them slowly down towards the end of your hair.

It's important to clamp your hair securely so that it straightens properly, but don't clamp so tightly that it begins to pull on your hair as this can weaken it and cause breakage. You should make the movement of running the straighteners down the section of hair as consistent and fluid as possible so that all hair is straightened evenly and no marks are left in the hair from leaving the straighteners held in one position too long.

Once the hair is straightened you could use a spray product to hold it straighter for longer and minimize frizz. This depends on how naturally frizzy your hair is and it may hold just fine without any extra products.

Have you noticed the hundreds of products in the hair care aisle of your local grocery store? Your hair stylist may have suggested to you that you buy a salon product, but you're probably thinking: 'why pay so much money for Black hair care products when there are lots of inexpensive hair care products on the market?' The answer is simple - Black hair has specific, unique needs that most grocery store shampoos just can't meet.

As you've noticed there are many hair care products on the market, but not all of them are appropriate for Black hair. Most of the products on the market are designed for White hair, which has a different structure and needs to Black hair. You need to be on the lookout for products specifically created for Black hair.

The products you need in your hair care arsenal should include some of the following:

High-quality hydrating shampoos
Deep moisturizing conditioners
Hot oil treatments
Leave in conditioners
Detanglers

When you're out buying these items one of the most important things you ought to do is: Read The Labels! Remember Black hair can be quite dry so you will need to buy products that will provide moisture, not dry your hair and scalp further.

Many products on the market claim to be moisturizing or hydrating, but they may contain ingredients that will cause further damage to already dry or brittle hair. Some of the ingredients to avoid are:

Isopropyl alcohol
Lye
Chlorine

If you see any of these items mentioned on the product label - put that product down immediately and find another! There are many Black hair care products available, there's no need to settle for anything inferior.

Before you use any hair care product for the first time acquaint yourself with the condition of your hair and scalp. After the first week or two of using a new product, examine your hair and scalp again. Do you notice any changes in the condition? If you do see a difference, it should be that your hair and scalp are healthier. If your scalp seems unhealthy or you notice more breakage or damage, then stop using those products, it could be a sign that they are not the right hair care products for you.

You'll know when you've chosen the correct Black hair care products for your hair, you will begin to see a noticeable difference within weeks and will never go back to using the wrong products again (no matter how cheap they are!).

Your hair plays a vital role in your appearance and so it makes sense to keep it well maintained. Below you will find some simple hair care tips for guys that will allow you to keep yours healthy and shiny.

1. Towel drying is one of the major causes of damage. When it is wet, it is highly vulnerable to damage. To properly towel dry, shake out the extra water and stroke your hair in the direction it grows rather than vigorously rubbing it with the towel.

2. Nothing feels better than a good hot water shower, but it can cause havoc on your hair and scalp. Very hot water removes much of the essential oil from both and leads to dryness. Therefore rinsing with luke warm water is better for you.

3. Avoid harmful chemical treatments because continuous colouring can leave it damaged, dry, and dull.

4. Another hair care tip for guys is to use a good shampoo and conditioner to keep it clean, add moisture and elasticity, and make the cuticle smooth enough to shine.

5. Hair is most susceptible to damage when it is wet. When combing it wet, you should use a wide-toothed comb and gently work at removing the tangles. Avoid overusing heating tools such as blow dryers or irons which can dry it out a lot.

6. The condition of your hair is often a reflection of the overall health of your body. Therefore, it is recommend that you eat a balanced diet, exercise, drink plenty of water, get sufficient sleep, and reduce stress in your life. This piece of advice is a well known tip for guys and girls to have bouncy and healthy hair.

7. Regularly trimming is advised by most stylists. The only way to remove damaged ends is to cut them off. Regularly trimming will help eliminate split ends. It is advisable to get it done every six weeks.

8. Less moisture and protein in your hair can lead to frizz. To minimize this problem, you should use a good and branded moisturizing conditioner. A glossy, smoothing serum can be applied to add shine and vitality. In order to avoid dryness add oil regularly in order to get that natural shine.

The above mentioned hair care tips for guys are the most common ones recommended. It is essential to remember that by just following these helpful suggestions you will do a lot to save your crowning glory. A good haircut says a lot about you so ask your stylist for the best advice on how to care for yours so you can look your best.

Why did you decide to go natural? Does that sound like an ironic question? Well, I hear that question all the time. It is funny because I do not feel like I went natural, because I was born natural. Let me just elaborate a little bit for a moment. Our hair was in a natural state upon our birth, yet there is a notion that when a person grows out of their "baby hair" they relax their hair, or they choose to go natural. There is a subculture that has embraced relaxed hair so deeply that relaxing hair is now the norm and anything outside of that (i.e. natural hair) is looked at as abnormal. I do not have a personal issue with relaxed hair actually, I relaxed my hair for years. However, at this point, my hair is in its full natural state. I like to focus on how to embrace your hair in the state that it was birthed and how to transition your hair back into the natural state if you are not currently embracing it.

When discussing natural hair, I like to think that there are different flavors of natural hair. After I first made the decision to transition my hair back into its natural state, I had difficulty with finding specific information I was looking for. Websites either focused on the natural style of dreadlocks (which I will refer to as just locks, because there is nothing dreadful about them), or individuals who relax their hair without chemicals. Well, my personal flavor was, as my friends affectionately refer to as, au naturale, which is not relaxing the hair at all and keeping it in its natural state without letting it matt or lock. Let me take time to give further insight into each flavor so that there is a deeper understanding of each.

The first flavor of natural hair is locking or matting of the hair. People choose this look for various reasons. Some people choose this flavor because there is a notion that this style was how our hair would look if we did nothing to it, hence a true natural feel. There is also a notion that locks and matted hair was evident in Bible times. In the beginning of creation combs, scissors, and flat irons were not available and when hair is left unmanaged, it will either matt or lock. There are individuals that like this style, yet want the style to look neat. These individuals, who are found more in American culture, maintain this look by using beeswax or some other substance to keep their hair in the locked state. In order to transition into another style from locks or matting, a person would need to cut their hair off. There are individuals who allege that you can soak your hair to loosen the locks and remove them and still preserve the length of the hair, however if your hair is truly locked or matted together, the hair cannot be "un-locked".

The second flavor of natural hair is hair that does not use chemicals to relax the hair. These individuals use alternative means to achieve the relaxed hair look. These alternative solutions can include pressing the hair with a flat iron or a hot comb, getting your hair straightened at an Egyptian or Dominican salon, or simply blow-drying one's hair. This flavor is usually chosen to preserve the hair from the damage that chemicals can cause, yet still achieve the look that chemically relaxed hair achieves.

The third flavor of natural hair is hair that uses little to no products to maintain. Majority of these individuals do wash-and-go styling. Some individuals with this hairstyle feel that this style requires minimal work and is less expensive to upkeep. This flavor is flexible with many looks that can be achieved with various styling. When I first started this flavor, I had to train my hair to achieve the look I now have.

One misconception is that an individual needs to have a certain hair type in order to achieve any natural look. I beg to differ because I believe that hair can be trained to achieve different results and even hair texture can be changed with proper steps. One thing that needs to be noted is that re-training and maintaining of any thing takes time and patience. Just like you can't work-out for a week and expect to see the full changes in your body you can't try to retrain your hair and expect immediate changes.

Just remember that whatever your hairstyle or flavor, always stay true to yourself.
