Kronos is a line of happinesslifetime.com hair care products developed by Glow, a company which produces a broad range of beauty products from happinesslifetime.com skin care to makeup. When they first started advertising it over a year ago I was interested not only because it promises to visibly enhance dull, listless, frizzy, or limp hair (I'd kill for some volume once in a while) but also because they provide a killer free sample: the entire "Kronos Hair Care System" which includes one each bottle of shampoo, conditioner, overnight repair cream and leave-in spray conditioner, in the actual full-size bottles. That's a pretty good excuse to get it right there, so I figured what the hey.

"Free" Trial

Now a caveat to the above, I think you have to pay a dollar or two for shipping or something, and if you want to keep the sample free you have to return the empty bottles to them within a month or two, but even so it's still a good deal. We're talking salon-grade stuff for a dollar or two more than the cheapest cheap shampoo and conditioner at Wally World.

What's Included

Kronos comes as a hair care "system" which includes four parts. You have your standard lather, rinse repeat shampoo, followed by a typical conditioner, which is also rinsed. In addition there is a clear conditioning spray which is applied and distributed throughout the hair immediately after washing, while still damp, and an "overnight repair treatment" which is worked into dry hair prior to bed and left overnight.

What Makes Kronos So Great?

Considering that if you sign up for the free trial and decide not to cancel, you get a fresh supply of Kronos every sixty days for $98 and some change, which is supposedly 55% off their normal retail price. That's some pretty dang pricey shampoo if you ask me, so what the heck does it do that makes it so great? The big selling point of Kronos is that it "transforms" dull and damaged hair and makes it wonderful and vibrant and awesome.

According to the website, an independent clinical study found that use of the system improved each of five factors (strength, volume, moisture, vitality and shine) by over 90%, which definitely sounds impressive. This is supposedly accomplished with their "revolutionary" T-sfere technology which delivers nutrients and other important stuff directly into the hair shaft and follicle, via tiny spheres which are small enough to penetrate these areas. Interestingly enough, this is not as big of a selling point on their website as it used to be. Now, the big thing is how well it helps dyed hair retain color.

My Thoughts

When I first used the K-charge shampoo, I was really enamored to the way it smelled. It was not at all fruity, or "shampoo-y". I'm not even sure what it smelled like, it just smelled really good to me in a unique way. I'm a very sensory person so to me this alone was worth the dollar spent on shipping. Other than that the K-charge products worked like ordinary shampoo and conditioner as far as I could tell. The after wash conditioning spray seemed to be the star to me, really causing a noticeably smoother texture and shinier appearance. The overnight treatment, in case you're worried, is not sticky or greasy at all. After you massage it into your hair, it's basically gone and you don't feel it at all.

I don't dye, cut, style, or otherwise mess with my hair beyond washing, toweling dry and combing, so as you can imagine it's pretty rough. On the whole, I didn't really notice the dramatic improvements Kronos led me to believe I would. This hair care system doesn't offer any kind of miracle fix or mind-boggling results to really jacked up hair, and if that's what you're looking for I suspect you'll be disappointed wherever you turn. If you're interested in a good quality product for an exorbitant price (which is why I ultimately canceled the subscription myself) then it will suit you as well as any other.
