Do you have naturally thin or naturally fine hair? Are you spending tons of your hard earned money every month on commercial products to thicken your hair? Would you like to find out how you can save money just from using ingredients that you already have at home or for the fraction of your monthly costs, find ingredients in your local health food or grocery store? If so, you've come to the right place! Below you will find that we have put together a couple of home remedies for you to try out at your leisure. All you need are a few ingredients, the willingness to be consistent, and the ability to follow simple instructions.
Now before we get into the home remedies, there are a few things you need to know. First, your genetic make-up determines your hair type. Second, having fine hair does not mean that you cannot have healthy and beautiful thin strands. Third, proper nutrition, practicing healthy eating habits, drinking plenty of water (at least half your body weight in ounces per day), regular exercise, and a healthy scalp contributes to growing long thick tresses. Additionally, proper hair care is another key component to a beautiful mane.
Remedies to Help Thicken Thin Hair
Apple Cider Vinegar (ACV) Rinse
Rinse your hair with this ingredient prior to shampooing your hair. My recommendation would be to use Bragg's brand (with the Mother). This brand is organic and natural as well as great for hair growth! Mix equal parts ACV and water (preferably ? cup) together, massage onto scalp, be sure to also cover the length of your hair. Let the mixture sit for 10-15 minutes, shampoo, and always follow up with a moisturizing conditioner. If time permits do a deep conditioning treatment as well, sitting under the dry for at least 15 minutes.
Essential Oils for Your Scalp
Here's a natural remedy that if used 3 to 4 times per week can add volume, thickness, health, and sheen to your hair. This recipe requires one half teaspoon of each of the following oils; coconut oil, almond oil, avocado oil, and olive oil as well as a half teaspoon of honey. Mix the oils and honey together and warm it. I suggest warming this mixture by putting it in an applicator bottle and sitting the bottle in a bowl of hot water (make sure the water is not scalding hot) for a few minutes. Please do not heat this in the microwave. Once warmed, apply to your scalp and the length of your hair, leave on for 2-3 hours (with a plastic cap if possible, if you don't have one that's fine) and then shampoo it out. Tip: This can be used as an overnight scalp treatment if omitting the honey and only using the oils. You can use this treatment every other night. Consistent application of these oils aids in stimulating the scalp, improving the health and thickness of your hair as well as adding strength and length!
